Falling Stars

On Sunday evening Patti Smith said something from the stage that really stuck with me. She said – “If the clouds part, we can see shooting stars tonight – if not, know they're up there and lie in bed and make a wish anyway”. Some people in the audience laughed, and Patti said “No, think about it – how beautiful it is that while you are lying in bed sleeping there are thousands of shooting stars falling above you.” Another lovely bit was when she talked about going to Powells books. She said “I went to Powells and got lost. I was in the Purple Room. Then I was in the Gold Room. Then I had some coffee, and then I fell asleep. Then I woke up three days later in the children’s section.” Just the way she said it. It was wonderful. I found this picture that I imagine was taken from the space shuttle and it made me think about what Patti Smith said. I’ll type about the show when I fully get my head around it.
