Daaaat's Right

I took a walk down the street to take some pictures of the Division/Clinton Street fair. Along the way there were loads of yard sales and houses Spring Cleaning in July. The sign though that caught my eye was one for "Free Stuff". Always on for free I checked it out and indeed....A household was spilling out the contents of it's basement into the yard and giving away old and abandoned things that had been left behind by now-gone housemates. For me though there was just one thing in the yard that I couldn't believe I was seeing. "What's up with the bike?" I asked. "Oh, please take it...It was left here. This guy fixed it up and then moved on and left it here. Please, it's yours..." Everything on it was loose and the back tire was nearly flat. It rode though, and I made my way home back up the hill. I noticed right away that people were staring at me. Thaaaat's right...I'm feeling ultra badass on one children's hot pink, mini, Huffy, "Summer Fun" bike that I just scored for free. And I think I'm in love. Almost home on the sidewalk in front of the O.H.S.U. clinic, they were selling brand new bike helmets for 5 dollars. I couldn't believe it! A second score.
The bike though is just too much. It's super far out. I have to tighten up the stem, oh, and the handlebars move if you pull on them... Easy fixes. The pedals are mismatched, the rims are purple, the tires are white, and it's wobbles in a big way down the hills. Ok, it's scary as hell on the hills. But man is it sexy. In two rides, two women have remarked "Hey...nice bike..." Thaaaaaaaaat's right.
