Russel Street to Hollywood

Just home from hanging with Casey. Portland's rain let off for an evening and I got the call at Jeff's that Casey needed a ride to a gig at the White Eagle. Jeff and I were checking out the out-takes on the newly re-mastered and re-leased DVD of the concert for Bangladesh. Specifically the rehearsal duet between George Harrison and Bob Dylan singing "If Not For You" and they almost remembered the words. It's amazing footage. I remember how much I miss George. And Bob for that matter. But back in 2005 Casey was playing three songs in a long evening of acts. Myshkin and Sailor played and were absolutely wonderful. After ciggies and cell calls we made out for the Moon and Sixpence to meet up with the survivors from the Yachats Celtic Festival. Dana and Eamon, Casey, Johnny Connolly, Dave Corey, Laura Cortese and her friend Molly rounded out the table. Laura and Dave and I had laughs over talking about the Zodiac signs and how some brass band in Canada wont hire any new band members unless everyone's signs match up and point towards band harmony. Laura says the band members indeed do all get along and make bank. She's starting out with looking for a mini-van with bucket seats for all so her band can have at least a little wee bit of autonomous space as the miles of hours pass beneath them. Zodiacal harmony or no, tour harmony is all about the seats in the van and what's on the radio.
Now it's half-past-one in the morning and I'm trying to digest the new Maria Mckee album but as of track seven it fairly well sucks and is getting worse. There are still the new Laura Veirs and Vashti Bunyan albums on the pile so it's a long night yet.
